Somewhere along the way, friends started asking me to plan theirs. Then their friends. It turns out the thing I do for fun, the research, the deal-hunting, the puzzle of fitting it all together, is the exact thing most people dread. So I kept saying yes, because I'd rather a family come home with memories than come home wishing they'd done it differently.

As a homeschooling family, travel has always been part of how we learn. Some of my kids' best "lessons" happened standing in front of something they'd only ever seen in a book.
